Join Pikes Peak Roller Derby – Unleash Your Inner Strength!
Are you ready to unlock your potential, build lasting friendships, and have a blast while doing it? At Pikes Peak Roller Derby, we’re always welcoming new skaters and officials into our vibrant community. No experience necessary—we’ll help you get there!
Get Started with Our Ascenders Program
Every Sunday from 11 AM – 1 PM, join us at Hillside Community Center (925 S Institute St, Colorado Springs) to learn basic derby skills in our Ascenders Program. This is the perfect place to progress at your own pace, from learning how to stop, turn, skate backwards, and fall safely—skills every skater needs!
💥 First 60 Days: $10 per session
Drop in and see how fun and empowering roller derby can be! If you’re new, don’t worry—we even have gear available to lend for a small fee.
Payments can be made via cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal, and after your initial session, you can join our regular Sunday and Monday practices. No previous skating experience required!
More Than a Sport – A Community
At PPRD, roller derby is about empowerment, self-expression, and building community. It’s where you’ll find support, encouragement, and a team that’s got your back both on and off the track.
Want to Join as an Official?
Not into skating? No problem! We’re always looking for officials—both on-skates referees and non-skating officials (NSOs). No experience? You’ll train alongside our experienced officials during league scrimmages and learn all you need to know for game day. It’s a great way to get involved, have fun, and be part of the action!
📩 Email us at join@pikespeakrollerderby.org to learn more about becoming an official.
Visiting Skaters
If you’re an experienced skater visiting from another league, our practices are open—just give us a heads-up 24 hours in advance. You’ll need current WFTDA or USARS insurance (please provide your number). The drop-in fee is $10, and new skaters are encouraged to attend a non-scrimmage practice first.
Experienced Skaters & Transfers
If you’re an experienced skater who missed our recruitment nights or are looking to transfer from another league, we’d love to have you! Please contact us to schedule an assessment or get more information about the transfer process. The $10 drop-in fee will be deducted from your joining fees upon enrollment.
Prepare for the Ascenders Program
To get a head start, visit Skate City for public skate sessions or attend the Thursday night Speed Skate class to brush up on your skills. For outdoor practice, check out the El Pomar Youth Sports Park or Cottonwood Creek Park—both are free and open to the public!
