How did you start skating?
I started skating in the early 70s. Skating and skateboarding were probably my favorite thing. And as I got older the roller rink was The Place to Hang Out. All the cool kids were doing it.
What position do you prefer to play?
I prefer to play defensive blocker. I can be hard to move when my mind and legs cooperate.
What about off the track?
I am currently a school bus driver, but my love and passion is all things jewelry and gemstones.
What are some of your favorite things?
Hmm…I love elephants, heavy metal music ,riding my motorcycle, family game night, roller derby, waterskiing and margaritas. Halloween is my favorite holiday. Oh, and I can ride a unicycle. That’s always fun.
What keeps you skating in spite of the challenges that come between you and derby?
I like meeting all the different amazing women in this sport. I need derby. It keeps me sane.
Any derby-related injuries?
Ugh. Too many to mention. I don’t want to scare people, and also my mom will read this, but I think the broken ribs were the worst. I slept sitting up for weeks.
